Alcázar of Segovia
The Alcázar of Segovia, dating from the early twelfth century, is one of the most famous medieval castles in the world and one of the most visited in Spain. It rises over the Eresma valley and is a symbol of the old city of Segovia.
It was built as a palace and fortress of the Kings of Castile.
Aqueduct of Segovia
The Aqueduct of Segovia is located in the city centre. It was built in the first century A.C. to bring water from the Sierra de Guadarrama to the city.
It crosses the centre of Segovia, giving the impression that it divides the city in two. This construction coexists in harmony with the rest of the monuments, such as the Cathedral of Segovia, the walls or the Alcázar.
Cathedral
Segovia’s Cathedral, also known as Santa Iglesia Catedral de Nuestra Señora de la Asunción y San Frutos, is one of the jewels of late Spanish Gothic. Construction began in 1525 under Charles V.
It stands out for its imposing appearance and the size of the bell tower with a height of 90 meters, which can be visited, enjoying unique views of Segovia.
Royal Palace of Riofrío
The Royal Palace of Riofrío is another of the residences of the Spanish royal family, managed by the Patrimonio Nacional autonomous agency, which administers State assets at the service of the Crown.
This palace has Italian style with a square floor plan and three floors high, designed in the image and likeness of the Royal Palace of Madrid.
It is surrounded by an extensive forest of 625 hectares where a large number of animal species live.
Villa de Pedraza
This medieval villa is located in an incomparable natural setting, surrounded by the sickles of the Vadillo and Encinarejo streams. It rises over 1060 m altitude, having an advantaged and strategic position since the beginning of human history.
In this villa you can visit the La Griega cave or Torre de la Hontanilla.
Sierra de Guadarrama
The Sierra de Guadarrama, with its 80 kilometres long, is located between Sierra de Gredos (Ávila) and Sierra de Ayllón (Segovia). It is one of the last protected areas catalogued as a National Park in which you can find coniferous forests, meadows, waterfalls, streams, etc.
In this environment you can find numerous hiking trails: from Manzanares El Real to Mataelpino by the Camino de Santiago; from Al Montón de Trigo to Cercedilla; Pico de la Majaslana route; the Water Trail or the circular route through Hoyo de Manzanares.
